Orchids on Ice

Someone asked me to do one of these blends with some of my
orchid photos. So I did. I don't normally sharpen to
strongly but on this one I thought I would bring out more
of the ice. ? Hope it works, let me know. Thanks and have a
great day.

I really like the series. The last image is my fav so far. For this one I find
the sense of the flowers got lost in the shuffle. I don't think that's
necessarily the result of the sharpening but more to do with how much
of the flowers you've revealed. I don't mind having to dig for the
flowers but find I need a little more sense of there once I get to the
bottom.

FWIW I have a friend in Halifax who did a series with flowers actually
buried in ice. Beautifully done. Very different from these. Much less
texture and much more defined flowers.

Thanks Ernest !! For me, I am showing more flower here than I wanted.
I am/was actually trying to capture/work with color and composition
with color in this series. Hopefully a touch of modern/fresh color
for someone's wall. I am starting to do some printing now, so will
not work any images for awhile. I hope your trip to China is
fantastic, that all goes well and you all have a safe journey.

I keep liking them all... The ice may be a little sharper here, but the color/shape of the orchids balances it quite well for my taste. And as usual the colors blend wonderfully.

OK. I certainly got the hit of colour when I first looked at it so think you
succeeded in your mission.

We are in the countdown now. Overnight in Halifax tomorrow then
onward to Beijing via Toronto.

Magnifique, monsieur Claude! My favorite, too. Masterful.

All of your ice and flower compositions play to my love of texturing in photographs and this image does that job to the nth degree. Set the picture against a black background and one can almost imagine that they could feel the cool sharpness of the ice and colorful softness of the orchids.

The orchids on the left side of the image have an added sense of hard Christmas candies that I remember from when I was child but very seldom see any longer.

*normally I try to stay out of issues on this site. I will now
take the time to state that all the time that I have been here-
asked by my buddy John to move away to the site I was on and try
this site out- Ernest was always a scary persona. But I quickly
found that is you needed help or had some normal intelligent
questions he would always always respond both personally,
respectfully, dignified and friendly NO matter what the
differences may have been photographically or creativitively
between you. On meeting Ernest in person he was that way and much
much more. He has always been a helping hand to me if I needed
one. and I know he would be the same to anyone seeking help.
Sometimes the written text is worse than the true bark.
