I've had the case of wanting to show an image of a bus shelter and then found the glass so smeared that nothing was possible but here you have used the smears to create the illusion of birds flying over an urban setting. The ghosts of the past caught in the smears contrasted with the reality of the present.

Classic and interesting. Especially curious are the white side bars.
Hmm...

That didn't come out right. The image is up to your normally high
standards, but your images are typically displayed without any added
border, "morning" being an obvious exception. The side bars here
(obvious on the default gray background) seem like a pretty severe
deviation from your normal presentation. They work well enough
looking like an "H" with a heavy white middle bar, but it seems out of
character for you, despite the classic Zorn like quality of the image.
What were you thinking? *grin*

Paul - The bars are just a result of how I posted it on Tumblr. It
looks sharper in a square format on the main feed there (so I add the
bars). You can't see the white on my blog pages, but here the
background is slightly off-white. I was posting from Flickr (without
the bars) but some of those photos seem to have become unlinked for
whatever reason.

Ahh! So they're simply a result of optimizing for Tumblr and not some
new aesthetic bent. One might have guessed, but these days, one never
knows... Thanks for the heads up.
